During her 10 years with (now) ThomasNet, she directed companies through the transition of print advertising to electronic marketing via CDs, websites, e-commerce, e-drawings and eventually webinars. This is the environment where standards reign and manufacturers always go to the highest standard to keep their competitive edge.
Meeting high, sustainable standards is critical to Mary who added Social Media to her e-marketing mix a few years ago, going from static, one-way communication to a more transparent and trusted, two-way conversation. Social media thrives on authentic products that can prove themselves to consumers, bloggers and investors.
Mary is particularly attuned to the majority consumer, women. The author of In Women We Trust and it's companion blog, she knows what women value and what they expect as consumers. Since the book’s publication in 2006, the trends she identified – Economic Clout, New Girls’ Clubs, Reciprocal Currency and Word-of-Mouth Referrals – have become more pronounced.
