Denny Darragh has spent 25 years working for manufacturers of products used in the construction industry. For the past 12+ years he has worked for Forbo Flooring Systems and is currently the General Manager for North & Central America and Asia. Forbo is the third largest resilient manufacturer in the world and has been the leader in Sustainability initiatives for decades.
Denny's interest in the environment ties to his roots of growing up in Pittsburg, PA. The booming industrial Pittsburg was once described as "hell with the lid off." The subsequent collapse of the steel industry in the 70s left it a disaster area not only economically and environmentally, but with huge health and social issues as well. The city has recovered to be one of the greenest in the country, but the tolls and stresses on families and the overall community during this period lead him to believe there had to be a better way.
Denny has always worked for manufacturers involved in leading environmental initiatives. Early on, everything was driven by energy savings, a direct off-shoot of the energy crisis of the late 70s, but the evolution from energy saving (80s) to green (90s) to Sustainable (2000 and beyond) is what is necessary for long term success.
Denny is a graduate of the University of Pittsburg with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He has actively participated in numerous programs and organizations to advance Sustainability issues. He is also currently Chairman of MTS, The Institute for Market Transformation to Sustainability.
